One of the old “downtown lead” track segments next to the Reedy River that served the Greenville area many years ago, likely as freight service.
These abandoned railroad tracks are located across the Reedy River from the Swamp Rabbit Trail near the Kroc Center. I would not trust them enough to stand on them, but they are the last historic remains of the railway sidings in the area.
This is the “Home Run Zone”, just beyond the fence of Fluor Field at the West End. Â On game nights, several people will gather in this area, hoping to catch a home run baseball. Â The Greenville Drive is back in town tonight, and the stadium will be a great place to observe the fireworks after the game.
