First Electric Bus

Greenlink has purchased four new electric buses, made by local manufacturer Proterra to replace four of the old diesel buses. This bus was on display at the Imagine Upstate festival. They are expected to go into service next month after training and the charging station is ready.

The all electric Zero Emission  EcoRide demo bus from the local manufacturer Proterra was spotted in downtown Greenville.    Although electric buses have a very good payback through lower energy and maintenance costs, the purchase price is still higher than diesel buses.   The local Greenlink system would like to add some of these buses, but the funding is not available.    The nearby Clemson CAT bus system will be getting four of these buses in the future.
