This piece by John Acorn was commissioned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Artisphere.
This sculpture titled “Freedom” was created by artist John Acorn back in 1969 and was first located at the Greenville County Museum of Art when the museum was in the Gassaway Mansion. Â It is now on the corner of North Main Street and Stone Avenue. Â John Acorn is also the the artist behind the recently unveiled “Orbital Trio” sculpture on NOMA Square.
The sculpture is composed of welded bronze and brass, and is of course secured with acorn nuts!
