I find the courtyard and gable of the Davenport building on East Washington and Church Street to be fascinating.   The building was built around 1916, restored in 1985, and was the first large apartment complex in Greenville.   It is now on the register of historic places.   Here is an early photo from the Coxe collection which had refrigerators lined up in front of the building, presumably ready for installation:
