Eager Daffodils

Usually when the Daffodils are tricked into coming out early, one wants to scream “Noooo, it’s a trick, go back to sleep”.   But this year, the warm weather pattern seems to be secure.   Although there will be more cool weather, it probably won’t destroy these early Daffodils in Falls Park, where they are somewhat sheltered by the river bank and trees.

As part of my walk to work series I’m sharing this photo of a crape myrtle bush heavy with rain soaked buds. Actually I started to title this “Walk to work water hazard”. I took the photo shortly after an afternoon rain storm. Walking along the path I had to weave between the branches.

Floodlit flowers at Falls Park in downtown Greenville, SC
Actually it is most likely the tower, supporting the pedestrian suspension bride (the Liberty Bridge) in Falls Park, which is floodlit. The flowers were planted around the base of the tower and as a result they are floodlit as well … Click here to see the top of the tower. This second photo was posted previously.

The evening sunlight was capture in the fern in front of the Peace Center in downtown Greenville, SC
Earlier this week, as we were walking home after eating out, we noticed how the evening sunlight was captured in this fern ornamental grass. I had to stop and try to save the moment … The photo was taken in front of the Peace Center in downtown Greenville. Click here to see a larger perspective of the scene.

PS: A reader and then my sister pointed out a mistake on my part calling this a fern. I would like to say thanks to both of them and to officially correct this post to indicate this is a photo of ornamental grass possibly called Pennisetum … Stay toned to see my next plant and flower knowledge challenged snafu. It will be fun.
