This pink fire truck is the Berea Fire Department On Fire For a Cure reserve vehicle that is still capabable of fighting fires. It’s painted bright pink as a way to give back to the community for support in helping to fight cancer. The Relay For Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society was held over the weekend at Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest, and the “On Fire For a Cure” crew was there to help.
The Fall for Greenville festival continues this weekend through Sunday night with lots of food, music, and entertainment such as the children’s amusement area seen here on Broad Street.
As part of Imagine Upstate, the Red and Blue FIRST Tech Teams faced off their self-built robots in a challenge of many tasks. There is teamwork and strategy involved – objects must be collected and organized. Other objects must be placed in containers. Another challenge is to climb the mountain and rescue stranded ‘climbers’.
As part of the Imagine Upstate festival which featured STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), there was demonstration by the Roper Mountain Science center which featured chemical reactions. This explosion in a trash can sent many balls skyward along with the smoke.
