A new bench has been installed by the Swamp Rabbit Trail at the bottom of the hill to Falls Park. It contains elements of the abandoned railway converted to a greenway trail: bicycles that occupy it today and railroad spikes that would have held the old railway together.
This bench located in the Boy Scout shelter near Sulfur Springs Road has cleverly integrated an antique hand truck along with a standard bench back. I tried it and found it to be comfortable!
“Joel Poinsett” had to sit on a wet bench this weekend, because there was more rain than usual.  The rain is welcome however.  The last report from the SC Climate office listed Greenville county as having a moderate drought condition.  The statue of Joel Poinsett is located in front of the Poinsett Hotel on Main Street.
I wonder what the story is behind this photo. I can share the details behind when I took the photo and where … But why that is what I don’t know … Why were these personal belonging left under a bench on Main Street … However, to me the photo says trust … What does it say to you?
I have decided that I like benches … more for the photo opportunity than to sit on. This probably says something deep and philosophical about my personality. Benches where include in my March 24, 2007 – Spring blooms and June 10, 2007 – Have a seat, relax, and visit a while post.
