A new statue by the artist Doug Young was unveiled on Saturday in the newly finished Prospect Park at the corner of W Washington and W Broad Streets. It is titled “Water Blessing”, a tribute to the influence of the original Cherokee inhabitants in the region. It comes alive through the use of a small water fountain trickling from the water container.
The statue of Dr Virginia Uldrick is located near the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. She was a driving force in the founding of the school and promotion of the arts in this area.

Dr. Virginia Uldrick is the driving force behind many of the art advancements in Greenville: the Governer’s School for the Arts, teaching love for music and the arts, and establishing the Fine Arts Center. This statue is located in the roundabout at University Street at the entrance to the Governor’s School and shows her energy as though she were conducting an orchestra.
