River Study Hall

The rocks in Falls Park by the Reedy River make a relaxing place to catch up on studies on a warm afternoon.

Mystery Rig

no comments

Part of the recently opened section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail follows the Reedy River.   At one point I encountered this rig near the ReWa facilities.   I can’t guess its purpose … fishing … water depth measure …  Mail hook for Kayaks?  Does anyone know its purpose?

Reedy River Bridge

A 215 foot pedestrian bridge spans the Reedy River in the Lake Conestee Nature Park.  This park is a great use of  land that would otherwise be a contaminated area from pollution many years ago.  Nature is reclaiming the lake and has secured the contamination from becoming an environmental hazard.   In addition to the bridge, the park has 2 viewing platforms on the lake and over 1800 feet of boardwalk on the trails.  The Swamp Rabbit Trail will eventually connect to this park.

exercise series, foot bridge over the Reedy River

A foot bridge crossing the Reedy River in downtown Greenville. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman.

Today’s photo continues my exercise series (i.e. all photos taken while I was in motion on a 4 mile walk through the parks in downtown Greenville). This photo shows a foot bridge crossing the Reedy River. The photo also shows a heavy growth of kudzu, a non-native plant which is very invasive and if not fought will kill trees and consume homes. Also, I have provided this extra photo showing the fella in the river which you can also see in today’s featured photo. I really have no idea what he was doing. Maybe cooling off. It was hot.

The low water dam, Swamp Rabbit crossing, Reedy River, River Walk, and Wyche Pavilion shown in this photo of downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 5/19/2009.
We had a wonderful extended weekend which we greatly enjoyed … however, when it came time to post a photo I realized I had none I was ready to share … so last night, a walk around the block presented several photo opportunities … the photo I’m sharing shows the low water dam, Swamp Rabbit crossing, Reedy River, River Walk, and Wyche Pavilion … there was even a band playing beach music at the pavilion … this short walk reminded me how much I love living in downtown Greenville.

I took this photo because I enjoyed the warm colors of the sunset and the reflection in the river. I hope you enjoy it as well.

The Reedy River, an Urban Forest Project

While on a walk along the Reedy River, I took this photo which highlights the Urban Forest Project. The green space, in downtown Greenville, is enjoyed by many of us .. something we can be very proud of.
