This is a wonderful scene resulting from the rain we have received recently. Moss covered trees on Coffee Street (map location). News stories indicated the lake levels rose by one foot due to the rain. We still have a long ways to go before the lake levels are back to normal however it is encouraging.

Although it rained yesterday and more rain is forecast for today Greenville remains in a very serious drought. Because of that I’m pleased to share a photo of these treegators in use behind the Peace Center. Every effort for water conservation helps.

The last two days I have shared photos of parks in downtown Greenville … Although today’s photo looks like another park it is in fact a yard at a local business in downtown Greenville … The lady reading and eating her lunch is a co-worker of mine … I did not share the photo of my other co-worker who frowned and said she had better not see that photo on the Intenet (smile) … The address where this photo was taken is 55 East Camperdown … perviously posted photos of the building include the address and others such as refelctions of fall foliage and even an indoor hall way.

As shown in today’s photo, Greenville is in what I think of as the purple season. Spring comes in color stages. The stages so far have included red (as seen in berries ), white (bradford pears, apple trees, cherry trees), pink (peach trees and second stage of the cherry trees), yellow ( forsythias and Chinese Witch-Hazel) , and now purple.

Today, we share photos of the Bradford pear trees on Coffee Street in downtown Greenville. The photo I would like to share is one I’m having trouble capturing … On a windy day the peddles petals from the Bradford Pears fall like snow. I would love to capture that scene and I will continue to try however I suspect I’ll have to settle with the sharing of a description of the scene.
The Fall colors include splashes of red mixed in with many shades of brown and yellow. But, in my mind, what makes the colors great is how they catch the light. The leaves become translucent and shine with an intensity. Then the wind blows and the leaves fall. Way too quickly the display is over … Today’s photo was taken yesterday at Falls Park in downtown Greenville.
