Today’s photo shows the Davenport entrance as I saw it during a recent evening stroll. I find the building very appealing and we considered the condos, at the Davenport (map location), when we were making our choice to live downtown. I think the building and especially the courtyard has a lot of character. In a magazine article I once saw an old photo of refrigerators lined up in front of the Davenport. The caption said something along the lines of; the Davenport residences are among the first the modern convenence of refrigerators.

I’m ending my Freedom Weekend Aloft series with this photo of the balloon glow. I hope you have enjoyed these photos as much as I have enjoyed sharing them.
PS: If you are a Daily Photo blogger please take a look at the enhanced Daily Photo Map which now shows thumbnails. If you are interested in participating the instructions to join are in the sidebar.
Note that City Daily Photo Blogger (CDPB) members will need to register for the map before their thumbnails will appear … Also please note that the map is open to daily photo bloggers who are not members of the CDPB community … I’m pleased with my programming effort and with how the map shows what we accomplish with our photos on a global scale. I hope you like it as well.
This quite scene is very different from what the festivities will be like tonight. The 4th of July celebration is always spectacular and well attended. For those of us who live downtown we can enjoy the crowds, fun, and excitement. And at the same time have the peace of mind knowing that in few days we will have another quite night on Main Street.
PS: The mystery of where the rock staircase leads will be revealed on Saturday.
