The water was running fast on the Reedy Falls in downtown Greenville … The sign says “About 1765 — Near Reedy Falls, stood the home, trading station, and grist mill of Col. Richard Pearis, first white settler of this section. He was a noted indian trader and prominent Tory of the revolution. — This marker placed by camps of Greenville County, Woodmen of the World, 1948″ … A previous post discussed the grist meal mentioned in the sign.

I am out of town this weekend so I’m sharing an archive photo from a week ago. The photo shows a common scene shared in several post previously. This particular view of the Reedy River Falls is most likely the most commonly photographed scene in Greenville.
