Yesterday it rained in Greenville and I went for a walk to take a few photos. As you can see there were others enjoying a walk in the rain as well. The photo shows a man crossing the Swamp Rabbit bridge (map location) with the River Place Hampton Inn as the backdrop … The moisture is greatly appreciated and everyone has a smile on their face. Unfortunately we need many more days like today to replenish the water supply.

A cloud and it’s reflection in the Reedy River

I took this photo on a recent evening stroll. For frequent visitors to GreenvilleDailyPhoto the scene will be familiar. It is only a short distance from where I live and I admit it is a scene I often enjoy and photograph. What is unique about this photo is that Greenville does not often have interesting cloud formations. We have wonderful blue skies and cloudy slate gray skies but not this sort of cumulus cloud very often … For some really great cloud photos visit Helen who publishes Albuquerque Daily Photo.

Larkin’s on the River

I went for a walk last night to enjoy the sights and sounds or Greenville. Naturally I took a few photos as well. The photo I’m sharing today is of the restaurant Larkin’s on the River (map location). This photo was taken with a pool of water and a small water falls in the foreground with the Larkin’s patio in the background. The water is part of a fountain behind the Peace Center. The Reedy River is on the other side of Larkins … I recommend local reader take an evening stroll and enjoy the fountains Greenville has to offer.

PS: Abe, from Brookville Daily Photo, asked about the settings for this photo. They were: focal length 26mm, exposure time 1/10 second, aperture f/4.5, and ISO 800.

My photos, the last few days, have been from a nighttime walk so I promised a day time photo today. Although the shot is dark it was actually around 5pm. It was that point in the day when you can find yourself walking next to a river, the Reedy River (map location) in my case, and if you look towards the sun you see pools of light, shimmering on the water, with darness in your proferial vision. I was impressed that my camera saw the scene in the same way I saw it.

Today’s photo shows an inventive method of taking a group photo. Their photo we be a close-up for sure … I liked the pose and the sun’s reflection on the water behind the young ladies.

As shown in today’s photo, Greenville is in what I think of as the purple season. Spring comes in color stages. The stages so far have included red (as seen in berries ), white (bradford pears, apple trees, cherry trees), pink (peach trees and second stage of the cherry trees), yellow ( forsythias and Chinese Witch-Hazel) , and now purple.

Last week I took this photo of a father and son out for a walk next to the Reedy River in downtown Greenville. I found the matching outfits interesting. We should all make time to go for a walk with a loved one … Matching outfits are optional.
