July 30, 2008 - The path to peace

A path next to a small water falls in a fountain behind the Peace Center in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 7/30/2008.
Today’s title is a small play on words given this path and the fountain it crosses is next to the Peace Center, Greenville’s performing arts center. About a year ago I posted another photo taken next to the Peace Center with a similar play with words. It was the ladder to peace … I promise to move on to non-nighttime-fountain photos tomorrow (smile).

I took this photo because of the evening light and shadows. I’m not sure what the industrial unit is however I assume it is air conditioning and/or heating. Anyone know for sure? The building is part of the Peace Center complex (map location).

March 5, 2008 - City Center parking garage wall with the Peace Center

I have found that construction sites offer photo opportunities with scenes which are short term and will not be seen again … For example today’s photo shows part of the City Center parking garage wall with the Peace Center in the background. The City Center is being demolished and a new hotel is planned. You may remember my previous post showing equipment at the Construction site across from the Peace Center.

The City Center building and garage have been demolished and construction will soon begin on a new hotel. Greenville’s performing arts center, the Peace Center, is in the background … More on the late City Center tomorrow.

February 13, 2008 - National Symphony Orchestra in Greenville

National Symphany Orcistra members strolling the steets in Greenville, SC. This photo was tanken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 2/13/2008.
Today’s photo is of Jim Higgins and Steve Dumaine from the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO). On Sunday evening we meet Jim and Steve as they were leaving a performance at the Peace Center, in Greenville, and walking to their hotel. As you can see from the photo they were very friendly and clowned around. This was their studly pose … Imagine walking out your front door and running into members from the NSO. What a treat.

PS: City Daily Photo bloggers please read this request: Collaboration, your photos at an international conference.

July 20, 2007 - Sunlight captured in ornamental grass

The evening sunlight was capture in the fern in front of the Peace Center in downtown Greenville, SC Earlier this week, as we were walking home after eating out, we noticed how the evening sunlight was captured in this fern ornamental grass. I had to stop and try to save the moment … The photo was taken in front of the Peace Center in downtown Greenville. Click here to see a larger perspective of the scene.

PS: A reader and then my sister pointed out a mistake on my part calling this a fern. I would like to say thanks to both of them and to officially correct this post to indicate this is a photo of ornamental grass possibly called Pennisetum … Stay toned to see my next plant and flower knowledge challenged snafu. It will be fun.
