Today’s photo is another photo from the Reedy River Run. See the last few days for additional photos … Today’s photo has overexposed light given I was facing the sun … I have included this link to the same scene taken from the other side of the Liberty Bridge. What is being shown are chairs and buckets lining the Liberty Bridge. The intent is that as runners complete the race they sit in the chair to remove the timing chip which they have placed in the laces of their shoe. Then they drop their timing chips in the buckets which are then collected and read into a computer program. As I understand it the timing chip is activated as the runner crosses the start line then the ending time is captured when the runner crosses the finish line. All very high tech except for the bucket of course.

Tomorrow is theme day in the City Daily Photo community and we have chosen to share photos of bridges. I have decided to start a day early and share a photo of the Liberty Bridge in downtown Greenville. Last night we went for a walk and captured this photo showing the bridge and it’s reflection. The Liberty Bridge is a curved suspension bridge built for pedestrians. Following are a few links to previous post of the bridge:
- January 9, 2007 – Liberty Bridge on a bright sunny Winter day
- January 8, 2007 – Liberty bridge on a rainy night
- August 6, 2006 – Suspension bridge at Falls Park
Check back tomorrow to see the bridge I have chosen to share on theme day.
This is the reverse perspective of yesterday’s photo taken one day later. As you can see the snow is mostly gone. The Liberty Bridge was in the background of yesterdays photo. Today’s photo was taken from the Liberty bridge looking at a foggy downtown Greenville. If you look closely you can see a few buildings in the fog.

This photo was taken yesterday morning on my walk to work. As you can see Greenville received so snow. The photo shows the Reedy River, the Liberty Bridge, and freshly fallen snow. By the end of the day about 2 inches of snow, sleet, and freezing rain fell. As normal there was a run on milk and bread at the grocery stories. My oldest daughter says, in advance of a storm, she stocks on up on beer and dog food. This keeps her husband and pet happy. What do you stock up on in advance of a storm?
Annie, from the Little Rock Daily Photo blog, asked for a photo of the falls. The river was running very high yesterday when I took this photo so I focused on the curve of the bridge instead. It really is an amazing engineering accomplishment to build a curved suspension bridge. Annie, for a photo of the falls I recommend my September 26th 2006 post post which shows a more tranquil scene.
PS: I was pleased to read Annie’s comment from yesterday and find that someone from Little Rock knew of the Liberty Bridge in Greenville.
