The streets of Greenville saw a high tech scavenger hunt fit for the Royals over the weekend. The Upstate Diamond Dash had teams of two compete to find clues. Bicycles and cars were not allowed, so it helped to be fit enough to walk fast and far to cover the city. Clues were sent to each team’s cell phone. While GPS navigation was allowed, it was also helpful to know the town very well. The top prize was a $15,000 diamond ring.

A ‘Spring Flea’ was held at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery this weekend. While I’m not sure of the origin of this phrase, the more common ‘market’ suffix is implied. The event logo on their web site makes it appear as though the phrase ‘spring flea’ was more common many years ago.

This was a quick snap showing some of the ducks which enjoy the Reedy River in downtown Greenville. Also, this is a good way to reminded everyone that the annual Reedy River Duck Derby is next week May 5th. You may remember some of my previous photos from the duck derby. 2006 showing a series of photos from the Rubber Duck Derby, 2008 a real duck with the rubber ducks, and 2010 showing lots and lots of ducks showing. I hope you come out to support a good cause.

One could assume I was following up on Mike’s recent post about the new LED lamp post in downtown Greenville. But actually this is a follow-up to unusual scenes on Main Street. For example: a John Deere umbrella, mowing the sidewalk, pirate bicycle, and Superwoman.

Saying hello to a puppy in downtown Greenville. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman.
We enjoyed a pizza on the patio at Bellacino’s Saturday night and while there said hello to a puppy. The weather was great as was the pizza and the company.

Fountains in front of the Gunter Theater .. this is one of the venues at the Peace Center (Greenville’s performing art center) in downtown Greenville .. we enjoy the smaller more intimate stage at the Gunter.
