Today I share a photo that I worked really hard to take (smile). Last night was a first for me. Although Connie and I have been members of the Sports Club for 20+ years I have to admit Connie uses the club (map location) more than I do … My first, is that last night I worked out with a personal trainer. Hence the title for today’s photo … Greenville is very fortunate to have several sports clubs in the downtown area and through out the suburbs.

Our contribution, to the theme, is a photo of the Marquette at the corner of Otis and Augusta Street in downtown Greenville. The Marquette is not our corner shop however it appears to provide services to many who live near it. Also; I liked the color, that it is on a corner, and that it fits my image of what a local corner shop should look like … Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
PS: If you are a Daily Photo blogger please take a look at the enhanced Daily Photo Map which now shows thumbnails. If you are interested in participating the instructions to join are in the sidebar.

Today’s photo is a commerce related post showing a model of the ship named Alice Bowater. Models of this ship and another named the Gladys Bowater reside in the office of the AbitiBowater building in downtown Greenville. Additional information and photos of the Alice Bowater and the Gladys Bowater can be found at the Bowater Steam Ship website. It is interesting to reflect on the history of commerce and how companies change, grow, and shift over time. These ships were built in England as part of a vast fleet of ships owned by the Bowater Steam Ship Company. Years later Greenville became the headquaters for Bowater which by then was a major pulp and paper company. Then more recently, resulting from a merger, the company headquarters has moved to Montreal.

Continuing my mini series from recent days, today I am sharing a white wall on an abandoned warehouse near downtown. Today’s photo shows the backside of the warehouse included in an earlier post showing a sign for the Ambassador Hotel in Duluth Minn which was used in the making of the movie Leatherheads.

This door is at the Go Fish store in downtown Greenville. For those following our blog you will know that Go Fish is one of my favorite stores and where I bought my giraffe. They offer so many colorful products, they provide a benefit to society, and now you know they have a mysterious door as well … Drop by, take a look around at their merchandize, and tell the friendly people there that the GreenvilleDailyPhoto guy said hello.

I like to acknowledge business endeavors and I especially like to share a photo when there are bright colors involved … We have not tried ScratchMeals.com yet however I can see it becoming a business we depend on.

This hot dog stand, on Main Street in Greenville, has a sign advertising catering. I thought this was a really good idea and for my next birthday I’m going to ask Connie to have Sabratt Dogs on Wheels cater our celebration meal … Notice the sauce, in the linked photo, it is called “pain 100%”.
PS: The correct name for this business is “Dogs on Wheels”. Sabratt is a brand of hot dog. You can find Dogs on Wheels at the intersection of Main Street and McBee.
