Denton, after meeting you at the concert last night, I revisited your web site today after a long absence. I thought it was very good then. I think that it is even better now.
Great job.

Sounds silly but do you take requests?
We’re interested in seeing G’ville’s skyline to see if there are mountains visible. Do you have any archived photos of the city with mountains in the background?
Just curious.
We love your daily picture and look for it as soon as we turn on the computer each day.

Howdy from the Eastside,
My husband, Kevin and his REALTOR pals, Darin and Cole are launching a website, http://www.discovergreenville.com. We’d love to feature a feed from your site, after I figure out how to make it work. I love your perspective on downtown.

All the best,

I am one of Greenville’s native sons, and I currently am attending Campbell University. I love this site, and have it bookmarked for me to visit every day. Its always fun to catch a little glimpse of home. Some of these photos have inspired some of my studio and graphic design art work.

Kim from MI, I don’t live in Greenville (wish I did), currently living in Alpharetta outside Atlanta, GA originally from MI. I have also lived in Florida and Ireland. Anyway, I have been through Greenville many times over the years, but this past year have visited downtown Greenville…I am in love with the place…sooooooo friendly, and understand that IS the way the people there truly are. I love the river walk and waterfalls going into Falls Park I take day trips there whenever I can.

You are so lucky to be moving there.

Denton, Do you and Connie live in one of those new condos along the river? I would love to have one of those :-) I would love to be able to have my dog there so he could take the river walks with me, and be with me when visiting some new friends i have met there.

I am so greatful that you have taken these pictures. Lots of good memories come to my mind. i had lived in Greenville from 1998-2005, considered it my home (I never lived anywhere longer than 1 year). Now that I am sick and my health has not allowed me to spent the rest of my life in Greenville, these pictures really move my heart and bring tears to my eyes. I miss all of it.

Denton said,

Sarah, I’m sure you will love it. Yes we grew up north of Amarillo Texas in a small town called Stratford.

Mike, your photos are great. I am envious of the Freedom Weekend Aloft photos taken in flight.

CJ, I have been very busy as of late but I have not forgotten your request. I will try to take photos from both areas in the near future.

Denton said,

July 3, 2007 @ 1:37 pm

Dina, sorry to hear you have health troubles. Without knowing the details, my advice is to cherish each day with a loved one. I know from personal experience how important that is … I am so pleased you enjoy our photos and I hope to bring you many more good memories.

CJ: I live in the san souci area (right down the street from furman)…it has cleaned up alot in the last couple years. Specially since Cherrydale and the new highway went in. I love the area and is just a hop, skip and a jump to downtown, but sad to say my husband and I are putting our house on the market next spring. Berea use to be a VERY nice area but has drastically went downhill in the last 5 to 10 years. Sad.

Denton: When you get time, would love to see pictures of my area on your website. :o)

Like a few other commenters, my wife Diane and I are very seriously looking at retiring to Greenville in the next year or so — from Seattle, WA. We’ve been subscribing to blogs, web sites, and corresponding with Realtors. (BTW — giving your phone number to a Realtor while online is somewhat worse than handing out one breadcrumb to a seagull. Soon you’re completely flocked.)

We’d really like to rent or buy a commercial building in the downtown area, rehab it and live above in a loft situation. Are there any properties like that available, or maybe available? Any realtors who specialize in commercial who aren’t flocked?

I’d love to see more photos of any buildings like this that already exist. We’re technology nuts, and would rent out the street level spaces to other tech-friendly businesses.

Denton,

I’ve been visiting your blog for a little while, and I really enjoy your photos! I lived in Greenville as a young newlywed in the early 80s - my husband & I lived in an apartment on White Horse Pike (near Furman, and across the highway from the Silver Spur Lounge - not much money in those days!) I worked at the old Greenville Hospital. Back then, downtown was deserted, and a little dangerous. I am so glad to see it’s turned around! I live in TN now, and am planning to visit Greenville again soon.

This daily photo project looks like a lot of fun! How can I join the daily photo group? I bought my first digital camera and have been slowly learning its wiley ways, and I’ve never had a blog (I’m not very high tech), but I’d like to try it.

Regards,

Mel

Have you ever taken a picture of West Prentiss Avenue? I remember the way the trees arched over the street and how it always made me feel like I was looking down a tunnel! Of course, those trees may be long gone by now, but it sure was pretty, especially in the fall.

Denton said,

November 8, 2007 @ 10:31 pm

Virginia, I will try to take a photo for the fall leaves on West Prentiss Avenue. The colors are not very good this year however there is some new development on West Prentiss which I have been meaning to photograph. A photo should appear sometime in the next two weeks. If there is a specific address you would like me to photograph you can seen an email and I’ll make an effort. My email address is one of the small icons on the left of every page.

Denton, Just wanted to say that I love your photos. I work at Falls Park and often see you walking through…at least I think its you. As a matter of fact I think it may have been you I saw walking by with camera in hand as our crew was spreading mulch behind the Peace Center this afternoon. I just had to let you know that we’ll keep working hard on the park if you keep taking the pictures! And just a heads up we planted a “Greenville “G”" logo made of pansies and parsley in the circular bed in Howe Circle. You could probaly get a pretty good shot from the top of University!

Denton,

First of all, I would like to say you have stunning pictures. I live in Maryland/Virginia area right now and thinking to move there.
I have sent email to you regarding this. I am trying to gather some information about Greenville, SC.

And I know you are one of the best resources that I would like to have.

Again, these pictures that you have are amazing!

First of all I love the photos you guys are takeing, I myself live in Metro Detroit and the weather here sucks right now. I am about to graduate at Oakland University and I am looking for places I would like to move to. I came across some information on Greenville and I ended up looking at your photos for over an hour. Your photos have got really excited about moving out there. I am so tired of living in a big city, and this looks like the ideal place for me.
Thanks for the inspiration

Hi Denton,
I was talking with Alice - Arrondan Daily- and she said to me that you can help me out with my template. I am trying to enlarge my pictures on my blog. I asked Alice how to do it and she wrote me this:

I did everything she said but I had one problem. Background color (it is hard to see it but it is not white.) of my sidebar didn’t

I am sorry to bother you with all of this but I tried everything.

Thank you
Seda

Denton, I was just curious what kind of camera(s) you’re shooting with. Your pictures are just lovely. I grew up in Greenville and your photos help me not to miss home so much. My husband and I are currently living in Georgia, where he is stationed with the Navy. I hope one day to move back to my homeplace.

Denton said,

May 12, 2008 @ 9:54 am

Karen, Asheville does have a daily photo site. However it is dormat and in bad need of a new photoblogger.

Coty, I take my photos with a Sony DSLR-A100k. The model has been replaced with Sony DSLR-A350k. I’m very pleased with the camera and highly recommend it. The shutter speed is exceptionally fast and the camera has a built in stabilizing feature … I enjoyed browsing your blog and seeing the photos of your life in George.
