While worried about our neighbors on the coast and in North Carolina during Hurricane Florence, everyone kept an eye on the skies and the weather forecasts in Greenville. There is an anemometer on top of this stop sign pole near city hall that hadn’t been noticed before. But wind gusts arrived on this sunny day before the very edges of Hurricane Florence rain bands. As it turned out, the worst of the now tropical storm Florence went around to the north, and the “eye” travelling through the center of Greenville County was no longer dangerous.
Note: The stop sign pole isn’t really as tall as city hall in this close-up perspective!
