One of the great things about this time of year is the lighting. Late afternoon makes for some interesting shadows as seen on this church in the Hampton Pinckney Historic Preservation Area of Greenville.

le mot anti-spam est ‘Great’. Voila superbe photo, la lumiere et les ombres sur cette maison sont ‘very very great’. Bravo
the word anti-spam is “Greatâ€. Veiled superb photograph, the light and the shades on this house are “very very greatâ€. Cheer
and mine is ‘special”
How appropriate.
Absolutely right about the light. Very nice.
Beautiful scene. I haven’t seen this bldg in the HP area. Which one is it?
Hi Denton, thank you for your comment at my blog…when I was in Shanghai I had no chance to get online but had seen people accessing hotmail, so it’s likely that Shanghai’s internet connection has very much recovered similar to HK…I hope things are ok with Jing…
For readers who might be confused by Lisi’s note, l will give a short explanation. Actually I find it very interesting how Greenville, Hong Kong, and Shanghai are all connected. Lisi, from the Hong Kong Daily Photo, posted a photo announcing she just accepted a new job and is Shanghai bound. Since I had not recently heard from Jing, who publishes the Shanghai Daily Photo, I posted a comment asking Lisi if the recent Internet disruption was resolved in Shanghai when she traveled there. Other than a natural concern about another daily photo blogger this extends a little more because Shanghai Daily Photo in hosted on a computer server here in Greenville. Personally I think the Global Daily Photo family brings the world a little closer together.
Truly beautiful shadows… nicely captured.
You’re right about the global daily photo family. I still find it amazing how we’re all connected by the simple act of taking and posting photos each day. Each blog distinct but still part of a whole. And you, Denton, are a big part of keeping that going. Thank you.
Love the shadows. And the windows on the church are so narrow and sweet.
Like Celine, I also thank you for your kind help and thoughtfulness with my site and the daily photo community in general. :)
Olivier and Dutchie, thank you. When reviewing my photos to choose the best of 2006, for our January 1st post, I was mostly interested in those with unique light.
Brian, I will have to go back and find the name. It is a Church about two blocks north of the Post Office on Washington. I’m guessing but I think it was at the intersection of Hampton and Lloyd. I actual had a photo with the name of the church in it however the lighting was not right and I deleted the photo. I’m not sure if that says bad things about me.
Celine and Lessie, thank you.
The play of the light and shadows is quite spectacular in this scene. I guess it was colder than it looks too!
This is Mattoon Presbyterian Church on the corner on Hampton Ave & Lloyd St in the Hampton-Pinckney historic district. This the back of the church. It is a dying congregation though. They have merged in with another church and I think they take turns having services between their 2 churches. I live next door:)
Judy, thanks for posting a comment identifying the Mattoon Presbyterian Church. I have not had an opportunity to walk past there again to try and identify the church name. The Pinckney historic district is very enjoyable and I especially enjoyed the evening walk which presented the shadows shown in the photo.
