As promised, today I’m sharing a photo of the purple berries in Falls Park. Anyone know what they are? We also were wondering why there are so many of them .. it is as if the birds are avoiding eating them .. anyone have an explanation?

Fascinating puzzle! I hope that you get some answers because I, too, am curious. Beautiful vivid shades of colour!
That is a Beautyberry; there are both American and Asian species cultivated, so it is hard to tell which Callicarpa it may be.
Yep, a beauty berry …. sometimes they are a red color. very pretty. Not sure if the birds eat them or not.
They are somewhat native around here.
If you’ll notice, all berry-bearing trees/bushes are heavy laden with fruit this fall. The trees seem to be dropping an abundance of acorns as well. This is usually a sure sign of a fierce winter to come. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if we don’t get some snow before the next season is out! It’s a beautiful way to see how God provides for all the little creatures.
