Our contribution, to the monthly City Daily Photo theme day, is this photo of a millstone in a rock garden near the Reedy River Falls in downtown Greenville .. I chose this photo because it fits the theme, BIG .. and because it ties to the origins of Greenville .. near this rock garden there is a sign which reads “About 1765 — Near Reedy Falls, stood the home, trading station, and grist mill of Col. Richard Pearis, first white settler of this section. He was a noted indian trader and prominent Tory of the revolution. — This marker placed by camps of Greenville County, Woodmen of the World, 1948″.
Following is a link showing contributions from the bloggers around the world.

A historical Big! Have a good day, Denton.
What a beautiful mill stone. In the portal I thought it must be a cut down tree. Imagine how many grapes or perhaps olives this has squashed in its day. Perhaps wheat? I forget what country I’m in!
Good morning, Denton! I love the contrast between the large and small stones. Great historical choice, too.
Today is a BIG day for me because it is my third anniversary with Daily Photo; come visit!!
Congratulations Kate.
From a book that I read, it possible that that very millstone was used in the late 18th century.
Thanks Galley for the detail .. History for everyone to enjoy.
Nice choice, theme day and history in one. That is a big deal!
I like the fact you share the hisgtory of your town. I learn a lot.
Thanks Norma.
Great local link, and interesting Wikipedia article, too.
I will try to find it on next visit…this weekend.

An unusual take on the theme but very interesting
