Redevelopment near Biltmore Park

A boarded up house under Fall colors in Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 11/11/2008.
On Sunday I went for a walk looking for photos of Fall colors. My walk took me into an area with redevelopments projects on the city master plan. Today’s photo is from Springer Street near Biltmore Park … Although this boarded up house is not a positive image, in my opinion it represents a positive activity in Greenville. Specifically economic development … For those interested, the city provides a document, about their plans for economic development … A quote from from the document: “Mission Statement … to encourage economic development, consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, which 1) expands the long term tax base, 2) provides quality housing for all, 3) encourages jobs and upward mobility for all citizens, 4) enhances the experience and stay of visitors, and 5) improves the quality of life for all residents” … Following are links to other unoccupied houses: 1 ~ 2 ~ 3 ~ 4 which I found interesting photo subjects … tomorrow I will share a photo from a development in progress.

Your posts are really strong. I love coming here to visit you. You’ve got a great eye for good subjects. I checked outhe links, the first 2 are especially touching. There’s something quite emotive about them. I can imagine thoughtful and quiet moments spent there photographing them.
