Books are the City Daily Photo theme today and it is our pleasure to share a photo, taken yesterday, of Connie reading a book to our grandson … To tie this photo into Greenville I would like to highlight a wonderful organization, in Greenville, called Lapsits for Early Literacy. I encourage our readers to visit their website and consider support and/or volunteering … Click here to view thumbnails for all participants in the theme day.

That’s a wonderful pic. Reading books is one of the best investment for babies.
What a beautiful choice for today, Denton. It says it all. Love this image.
this baby is happy
Great work, Granma – never too early to start! I recognise this book too – Dorling Kindersley were amongst my favourites when my son was small. Thanks for visiting me in Sydney.
I like this. It is almost like taking care of the baby while reading an instruction manual. And then if I looked at it right she is reading a story and the baby sure does look like he/she is taking it all in. I think it is a good thing to do this, reading to babies or talking to babies.
I forgot it was theme day. Duh. So I found a few of the books I wrote and posted pictures of them. A kind of collage of my stuff.
Abraham Wesley Lincoln
Oh my, he’s so cute.
What a lovely choice for the theme.
Ohh how supercute!:)
Oh, Denton! What a beautiful scene and PERFECT choice for theme day! The message goes way beyond the image of theme day. I’d like to add, also, that the baby is also PERFECT! He’s beautiful and I love that it’s the first blog I opened this morning…such a bright ray of sunshine.
Very nice Denton!
Such a sweet photo and your grandson is adorable. I have always enjoyed my friends Karen and Rich having new babies for me to hold and love. Today I will be sitting with their current 5 children while they go to a football game :-)
I know you and Connie are just beaming with joy and love. Bless all of you.
Denton, this is a wonderful picture! Baby Jack is so bright-eyed and handsome! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful! I also subscribe to the belief that it is never too early to read to a child — I even encourage pregnant women to read to their babies in the womb!
I checked the link you gave for Lapsits — I love it! We definitely need something like it in the Philippines.
The sooner the better…
A lovely capture of a beautiful bonding between a grandmother and her grand child.
I hoped from yesterday’s comments that this was what today’s picture was going to be! Thanks so much for introducing us to your extremely handsome grandson, Denton. I’m pleased that y’all are starting him off on a healthy diet of good books, too! Congratulations to all of you!
What a loving photo! Babies surely appreciate the time given to them…and reading to them certainly reaps benefits in the future…
Happy theme day and all the best!
Thanks for sharing this with us, Denton. Jack is a fine looking little fellow. Congratulations!
I think the pictures of kids reading (or being read to) are my favourites from this theme day. You can never start early enough. In the UK we have BookStart which is I suspect a similar sort of programme – when I was a health visitor (kind of like a US public health nurse) I used to give out BookStart books at kids’ 8 month checks, and again at 2 years. I think it’s a great idea.
Denton and Connie,
Congratulations on becoming Grandparents! Jack is adorable and I am sure he will be spoiled properly by his Grandparents!
What a wonderful organization and darling photo!
Thanks for visit, Denton.
He looks so serious and I think it’s a good sign.
What a beautiful photo and perfect for this theme! Yeah to reading books to our children early and often!
Can never start reading aloud too early. That is one lucky boy! Great theme day choice. Enjoy!
Hola, Denton!
Congrats to you both on your grandparent-hood! I agree that it is never too early to start reading to children. Because my husband worked long hours, he put Jason to bed every evening and read him a story before he turned out the light. He did that through the year Jason was in 4th grade.
For my graduate field study program, I did a website: http://nashvillewordadventures.com. I did it because I want to promote reading BOOKS. . . .
Lovely treatment of the theme!
Jack is a celebrity!
What an adorable photo of your grandson and so wonderful to see you reading to him so young. You can’t start too soon!
Love this theme day photo! I think this is the best one I’ve seen so far. :)
Denton, your grandson is a BEAUTIFUL baby. Great photo and one I’m sure he’ll appreciate having when he gets older. There’s nothing like kids with their grandmas.
I bet he loves the cooning of Granma’s voice. Adorable photo & nice tie in to Greenville.
This the best photo, hands down.
