Reading while enjoying the morning sun on a bench in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/23/2008
The weather is great this time of year. Cool in the morning and warm in the afternoons … Today’s photo shows a man wearing a light jacket, reading a book, and enjoying the morning sun while sitting on bench in downtown Greenville. Also, because it is football season I suspect the orange shirt shows his allegiance to Clemson University … Past photos showing people reading include the perfect Sunday Morning and playing with light and shadows.

Art in the Park at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/22/2008.
Art in the Park moved to Fluor Field this year, I assume due to the construction downtown. Flour Field is home for the Greenville Drive baseball team. As a result … In addition to great art, crowds, and lots of fun … it was possible to get a hot dog … Today’s photo shows a combination of visual art and performance art. The lady posing, for the painter, had a microphone and was visiting with the crowd.

Friday night I took this photo of a musician entertaining dinners on the patio at Restaurant O. The music was good and the evening perfect … We eat at Restaurant O, on occasion, and have always enjoyed the food … About the photo; personally I like the lighting on the fountain … Some of my readers may remember my previously posted photo of the door handle at Restaurant O.

Oliver Yu, a very talented local photographer, was taking photos at Friday Night Jazz last night … Never one to miss an opportunity I looked over Oliver’s shoulder to see the scene from the prospective of a professional … It was impressive how the model stands out in the crowd … I recommend our readers stop by Oliver’s website and enjoy his photos … Or better yet drop by his studio and say hello.

Recently I took this quick snap of a bicycle police patrol in downtown Greenville … Personally I am very pleased for their presence. The police have always been a phone call away but somehow their bicycle patrols are more personal … The building shown is the Carolina First building (map location).

Taking your music to work

Taking your music to work in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/18/2008.
Like many people I carry a laptop computer back and forth to work. I also listen to music on the XM website while at work. However this photo defines the phrase, taking your music to work, much more literally … Actually I have seen this scene several times and last light I was lucky to be in the right place to capture this photo showing members of the Greenville Symphony walking toward the Peace Center for a performance … The building in the background is the restored administrative office of the Huguenot Mill (map location).

Tables, people, and a lamp post under a bridge

Tables, people, and a lamp post under a bridge in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/17/2008.
It rained yesterday so I am sharing a photo from under a bridge (map location) in downtown Greenville. While I am very impressed that Greenville had the wisdom to use the space under this bridge to place tables I have also found it amusing that a lamp post should be placed under a bridge … The water you see flowing on the right hand side of the photo is run off water from the rain falling on the bridge … Most impressive to me is the fact that the planners of River Walk saw the need to place a
rock garden under the run off drain.
