August 28, 2008 - Reflections on wet bricks

I admit I have photographed this same scene in the rain before. However, I think the sky is different in this photo … Anyway it is an excuse to share one more photo of reflections on wet bricks in downtown Greenville … I had such a great time taking photos, in the rain, I am sharing a few extra.

Very pretty! I love night shots, and the wet bricks make the photos even more magical.

All of them are great photos Denton. I specially like the ones with reflections. The first thumbnail is really awesome as it looks like the lights are embedded in the sidewalk and then reflected in the glass of the building.

Love your nighttime photos in the rain, Denton! How do you keep your camera dry while you’re shooting? Just curious. I know that water and digital cameras do NOT go together!

Hilda, yes I agree. As a I mentioned I have taken and shared this scene a couple of times before. The reflections on wet bricks draw me back. That and it is just one block from where I live (smile)

ann in alpharetta, thank you. Actually, the first thumbnail is of lights embedded in the sidewalk and their reflection. The location is on Court Street and Main. Next to the Poinsett Hotel.

Marsha, thank you. I keep my camera dry by using a big umbrella. As a result all the photos shown were taken one handed (I did not bring my tripod). The photos say a lot for the stabilization feature for the Sony DSLR’s … Although there were moments of intense rain, during most of my photo shoot there was only a light mist … I checked my camera closely afterwards and found no moisture problems.

All 5 from today and the one from yesterday were all great! Combining the rain and the night gave beautiful results! I am very impressed that your Sony DSLR allowed you to take such great photos one-handed under an umbrella! I never would have guessed those were one-handed! The scenes are very artistic.

Bryan, thanks for your complement. I was pleased with how the photos turned out but most of all I enjoyed the rain. It took two days to dry my shoes out.

Thanks for the info Denton. I have been down Court but never noticed lights embeded in the sidewalk. Even though it was daytime I should have noticed that. Guess I was concentrating on looking UP :-)
