We returned from a trip late on Saturday and early on Sunday I shopped at the Publix (map location) grocery store shown in this photo. It is interesting how dependent one becomes on a grocery store. Especially if you want milk with your oatmeal and hot chocolate … I like this photo because of how the lamppost leads the viewer’s eyes to the background where the Poinsett Hotel can be seen.

I absolutely LOVE Publix. They arrived in Nashville about 8 years ago, and I have rarely shopped elsewhere since. They have the best fresh bread, produce and meats of any grocery. However, it is their customer service and philanthropy that impress me the most about them. The other major chain in town has a lot to learn from them, if you ask me. I told Michael that when we move from here, Publix will be one of the things I miss most. (Is that sad to say?)
I do like your photo, by the way. . .love the lamposts on the left.
My stress level is hopefully going to go down a bit after today. . . .My post explains it, I think.

Ir’a just great how those lamp posts form a leading line into the scene and also a different perspective of the downtown area than I’ve seen before.
I too LOVE Publix. Their bakery is awesome — especially the carrot cake! The only thing I miss from the grocery stores where I used to live is the fresh salad bar.

Chris, congratulations on your husbands retirement. He is a lucky man to have such a wonderful wife.
Marsha, thanks. I may thy to take this same photo at twilight some time in the future … We show a Publix and a Fresh Market. I understand Whole Foods is also an outstanding grocery store.

You know, I drive by that very Publix all the time and I had no idea it was open. I will have to check it out…I venture out to Fresh Market and what my sister calls Whole WALLET Foods from time to time as well as take an occasional foray into BiLo, but I always come back to Publix. My “local” is the one on Pleasantburg but I love the look of this little urban village and will have to try it out.
Also wanted to add that this photo is amazing. As I said, I drive this way a lot and I’ve never noticed how the lampposts lead your eye…but I will certainly look more closely next time. I’m a chronic reader of your blog…you do some NICE work.
