June 15, 2008 - The Greenville County Historical Society

The Greenville County Historical Society in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and post at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 6/15/2008.
Today I’m sharing a photo of the Greenville County Historical Society (map location) in downtown Greenville. Local readers may want to check their website. I especially like the Coxe Collection of photos they maintain. I mention this because a friend recently gave us a book, called “Remembering Greenville”, which contains many photos from the Coxe Collection. Looking back at Greenville’s past is very interesting.

Love looking back at old photographs and documents of our cities and towns. This door and the signs somehow give confidence. Very smart.

Denton, I have always loved the black door. It’s a great place. Like you said, the Coxe collection is fantastic. They will also copy any picture from the collection for something like $10. I love the place. They also sell Christmas ornaments of various historic buildings throughout Greenville. Thanks for sharing this great place through your website.
