June 6, 2008 - Hot weather and a cactus on Main Street

A cactus on Main Street with the Center Piece in the background. The scene is from Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 6/6/2008.
Today’s photo shows a cactus on Main Street. In my experience a scene which includes a cactus is rare in Greenville however I feel it is representative of the hot, dry weather we have been experiencing recently … The Center Piece Restaurant and Lounge continues my recent mini series showing store fronts.

We have one of these growing here. We call it a Yucca plant. They do like warmer climes but do well here where it goes way down below zero in the winter. The bees like them too.

It is now about 8:10 AM here in Brookville, Ohio and already a muggy 75 degrees with 92 expected.

I like your photography and a look at the main street was nice to see.

As nice as the West End is these days, there are still areas that need to be revitalized.

When I first saw this photo, I thought it looked like Main Street in Boulder City, NV. a bit. LOL

Thanks, Denton. This is as great as your other pictures. I do miss your map-links, though.

I’d never have thought of a cactus in Greenville, SC, Denton. I like this photo, but I do hope y’all get a good rain, not a bad rain, at some point soon.

I think that may be an agave.
