Monday, on my lunch time walk, I visited two parks. Yesterday I shared a photo of the Shaw Memorial Garden and today I am sharing a photo of the second park, the Rock Quarry Garden … I understand, the Rock Quarry Garden, at 200 McDaniel, was originally a pre-Civil War granite quarry. Some of you may remember this previously posted photo showing one of the rock cliffs or this collage showing a rock bridge a the Rock Quarry Garden … When I reflect on it a person could fairly easily visit seven parks in a one hour walk. I’ll have to take that walk and create a collage.

The parks sound wonderful - the kids and I will have to explore them this summer together!

The Rock Quarry Garden is one that few folks know about. It’s adjacent to Cleveland Park, but it doesn’t really offer any parking, so you may have to walk a few blocks to get to it.

Hi Denton, good to catch up a little. Always nice to see what pictures you have been posting. Like the Tai Chi shot, and this one of the Quarry Garden. Very nice.

Thanks so much for including the links to the satellite maps with your pictures. It has been so long since I lived in Greenville that it is hard for me sometimes to remember just where these places are; the satellites let me revisit some very special places and memories. I had no idea that area used to be a quarry, but the airplane close by is one of my favorite landmarks!

How beautiful! Looks so peaceful and that blue sky sets it all off so wonderfully.

Love this spot where you took this photo and the one you title rock cliffs. It looks from the map that it would be a comfortable walk from downtown and back.
