May 1, 2008 - Theme day - numbers - reserved #43

Bradford Pear petals falling on a reserved parking space in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 5/1/2008.
Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo blog community. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants. Greenville’s contribution, to the theme, is this photo of Bradford Pear petals falling on reserved parking space number 43 in downtown Greenville … No that is not my space. In fact I’m lucky and get to walk to work and don’t need a parking space or a tank full of gas to get back and forth each week … Locals will know this photo was taken in March when the Bradfords were in full bloom … Click “read the rest of this entry” to see the full list of participants:

c’est sympathique d’avoir sa place réserve, pour aller au travail c’est la guerre pour pouvoir se garer pas trop loin du bureau ;o))
it’s nice to have a place reserved for going to work is war in order to park not too far from the office o))

Very nice picture. I like to see this in B&W (Well it;s almost B&W anyway) with some grain added.
Reall nice!

It’s interesting to see how all those modern numbers look alike all around the world (number globalization ;-) And what are the white or light pink spots all over the place, I wonder? to me they look like blossom leaves (the same in my garden just now).

i thought a party was over and that was the leftover of the confetti.
then i realise ah… it’s the petals ;-)

Happy Theme Day!

The petals add a lot in my opinion. I would maybe have increased the contrast a little. Good work.

The petals do add something. Nice clean image.

There’s something so magical about petals strew about on the ground–you made the numbers theme quite beautiful.

Those pears ‘petals make a parking lot look almost beautiful!!
What a thrill to walk to work everyday!

Really liked your white series, Denton and especially the Bradford pear blossoms. Lovely choice with the numbers and blossoms.

Petals are nicer than chewing gums…

Looks like fairy dust spread across the privileged persons enchanted space, just waiting for the moment of arrival.

I recall from previous photos that you had a beautiful BMW. From your caption on this photo, I was wondering if you no longer have it. I was also wondering if most residents of your condo have cars, and if so, where do they keep their cars when they live in a downtown condo? Does the condo provide a parking garage?

Thanks everyone for your comments. Theme day was enjoyable.

Olivier, “going to work is war”. How true.

Ben, actually it is a color photo of a B&W scene.

April, the white spots are petals from Bradford Pear trees.

Keropokman, the Bradford trees put on a show each year which is worthy of a party.

Craig Wilson, I’ll have to try increasing the contrast.

Babooshka, thanks

Jilly, thanks.

Kuanyin, thanks. The scene was beautiful. It was the petals I was trying to capture.

Sally, yes I am very lucky to be able to walk to work.

marie noyale, many of my photos are captured on the way to and from work taken during my walk. That and strolls at lunch and the evening.

Professor, have to have fun with your photos.

Raf, thanks for your comment about my white series. It turned out much better than my black series (smile).

Alice, very very true.

Neva, I suspect the parking spot cost between $50 and $100 per month.

Elaine, funny.

Bryan, yes I still have my BMW Z4 roadster. However, I only drive it on the weekends. As for your other questions. Yes all of the residents have cars. In most cases two cars. Our condo complex is built around a parking garage owned by the city. We all pay a regime fee which includes a parking space.

Travelphilippines, thanks.
