March 17, 2008 - A tree in bloom with yellow blossoms in Falls Park

A tree in bloom with yellow blossoms in Falls Park in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 3/17/2008.
Sunday I went for a walk specifically looking for this photo. I had noticed the tree in bloom earlier in the week however the light was not right. So Sunday, with the morning light on the yellow blossoms, I joined others in the park to enjoy the weather, water, flowers, and trees.

It reminds me of a forsythia bush. We have them up here and they will be blooming in about four weeks. I like the bridge in this picture. It certainly shows the importance of a good keystone.

Dear Dento, the rustic stone bridge looks so beautiful and the small river (or do you call it small creek up there?) add the look. I believe it is spring now, is not it?

Have a nice day then!

The weather was gorgeous yesterday, and Falls Park was packed. I ran into a couple of friends as I was riding through on my bike. I love the flowers on the trees this time of year.

IRISH BLESSINGS!

May soft gentle breezes brush o’er your face,
For each loving touch is God’s warm embrace.
May you have enough for all that you need,
And never be hurt by another one’s greed.
The Lord keep you safe from terrible things,
And at the end of this life, lift you up on His wings.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and may the Leprechauns be good to you!

Wonderful photo, Denton! Now I know where I’ll be heading sometime this week.

This is my first Spring in Greenville. I am already blown away by the beauty of all the trees in bloom, and I understand this is nothing compared to what’s yet to come. All I can say is WOW and have your cameras ready!

I thought this was a forsythia too, but when I clicked on the thumbnail I saw it wasn’t. Lovely photo though, whatever it is!

I believe it to be a Chinese Witchhazel, but don’t hold me to that. I just got back from my afternoon walk and noticed it blooming. It’s gorgeous!

Is it a Forsythia? Lovely shot of a lovely place.
And of course, one goose, two geese, thank you Denton ;-)

It’s a beautiful setting-the stone bridge, the waterfall and the tree.
Great photo.

Oh, Denton! My anti-spam word fits your photo today perfectly - stunning.

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Abraham, this is the time of year when forsythia’s are in bloom. And I’m far from an expert on the subject. However I suspect the anonymous poster is correct and that they are Chinese Witch-Hazel … Good point about the keystones. Maybe we should suggest that as the subject of a future theme day.

Ian, yes this is a creek. And Spring officially starts in a few days. However, as you can see Spring weather has already arrived.

Jim, thanks.

Ann, I was pleased with the yellow. Especially in the extra photo.

Galley, your comment reminds me. Now might be a good time to purchase a bicycle. I’ll have to visit with Connie about the idea.

Kate, thank you and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you as well.

Marsha, the best part about Spring is the outdoor events return. Don’t miss the outdoor movies.

Jackie, I agree and our anonymous poster sounds like he/she knows best.

Anonymous, thank you. I appreciate your comment and knowledge.

Alice, I don’t think the tree is a forsythia. But as I have mentioned before I am flower and tree knowledge challenged. Maybe my sister Leonda will comment. Her opinion would be the one I would consider most valid on the subject of flowers and trees.

Anu, thank you.

Chrisc, some bloggers in our City Daily Photo community have attempted to stop using the anti-spam words. In may case I would hate to see them go.

Love this photograph. What a beautiful bridge and that tree is just lovely - such a subtle colour.

Hi Denton! I LOVE this picture…it is awesome….it looks like spring is making its way to you….there is almost no snow left here….just some from the gigantic mounds of snow plow leftovers! Have a good day!
