The bad weather which hit Atlanta passed just south of Greenville on Saturday. As a result we were under a tornado watch and gave some consideration to what is the safest place in a condo complex. As shown in the photo we chose the lower levels of the staircase in our condo. Luckly the weather passed south of us and we did not have to take shelter. Unfortunately Atlanta was not so lucky.

Glad your all safe their in Greenville. I couldn’t believe it when I heard Atlanta had a tornado.

That was the first thing I did yesterday after hearing the news; thinking about where to take shelter in my new home. An interior closet seems like the safest place.

I was wondering the same thing also, i.e. where in my new home would be the best place. I was thinking and interior bathroom where I could climb into the tub and put a twin mattress over my head if it got really bad. I was greatly relieved it didn’t get bad enough.
Denton, do they have tornado sirens in Greenville?

SC just observed Severe Weather Awareness Week the first, full week of March. I found some articles that mentioned “sirens sounding,” but I’m not sure if that’s metaphorical or literal.

I was shocked to see the devastation in downtown Atlanta not long after the news broke from regular programming to tell us about the BAD weather approaching. I live in Alpharetta about 15-20 miles north of downtown. Next thing they are showing us the GA Dome damage and the game stopped, then there were the views of the devastation outside with windows shattered in all the large buildings and destruction inside the buildings, debris everywhere outside, etc. Thank God no one was killed with the many thousands of people in downtown for a variety of major events going on.
Then yesterday the band of bad weather and tornado warnings all day were north of atlanta and many times very close to my area. I prepared my tiny 1/2 bath on main floor just in case. Gratefully it never came to that. However, very sad about the 2 people killed when a tornado hit further north and west.
I am so glad to know that the bad storms passed south of Greenville and that everyone is safe.

Helen, yes the weather passed us by. However there were some neighboring towns which were not as fortunate.
Galley, I have always thought like Marsh mentioned below. Go to a bathroom then cover yourself in the tub with a mattress. In fact in years past, when living in Texas and Oklahoma, I have carried a mattress to our bathroom several times. Fortunately we were never hit. Today I think I like our stairwell better.
Marsha, I’m sure Greenville has tornado sirens however I have not heard them. Actually I hope never to hear them. On a similar note, previously I posted this photo of An old warning siren overlooking Greenville
Harvin, I missed them sirens if they were tested in downtown Greenville. I hope they exist and that the cover all of us. However, I think a weather radio might be a wise idea.
Ann, I am glad you are okay and saddened by the lose of life in Atlanta.

We are very glad you all are ok. The first thing I thought was a tornado in Atlanta??? And you were raised in tornado alley.
