March 4, 2008 - Chairs and buckets to place your timing chips in

Chairs and buckets to place your timing chips in at the Reedy River Run in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 3/4/2008.
Today’s photo is another photo from the Reedy River Run. See the last few days for additional photos … Today’s photo has overexposed light given I was facing the sun … I have included this link to the same scene taken from the other side of the Liberty Bridge. What is being shown are chairs and buckets lining the Liberty Bridge. The intent is that as runners complete the race they sit in the chair to remove the timing chip which they have placed in the laces of their shoe. Then they drop their timing chips in the buckets which are then collected and read into a computer program. As I understand it the timing chip is activated as the runner crosses the start line then the ending time is captured when the runner crosses the finish line. All very high tech except for the bucket of course.

What an interesting way to get the results of the race. I like the perspective.

Your last sentence makes me smile :)
Maybe they will change the bucket when they read this post.

I like buckets. They are very useful, as evidenced by the photo.
