On Saturday we greatly enjoyed Ric Standridge’s performance at The Liberty Rock Show held at the Greenville Drive Pavilion. The event included food, wine, Rock and Roll music, lights, great performance art, and lots of energy. We enjoyed the event so much that I have included several additional images. This photo was taken a few days ago before the rain clouds rolled in. However, I thought this photo would be a good one to share for a rainy weekend and a Sunday morning … After all without the rain we would not have these beautiful colorful plants … The photo was taken at John Wesley United Methodist Church‎ in downtown Greenville.

On Thursday evening, we enjoyed a Jazz performance by Jean Calvert. You can listen to her music at MySpace page … The music was great and the venue was special as well. The Greenville County Museum of Art presents events such as this each week on Thursdays. The combination of art forms makes for a special evening … Following are few additional photos showing Jean Calvert and the venue.

PS: I would like to extend a special thank you to Martha Severens, the museum Curator, who gave me permission to take these photos.

Recently I shared several photos based on the theme of white. Yesterday I started a new color theme of black. I quickly realized that I needed to get past this idea. So today I am sharing the remainder of my black series and promise to move on to a brighter subject tomorrow … Although not the best idea I have had for a photo series I personally enjoyed the challenge of hunting for black photos … Today’s featured photo is of the hood of a black Mercedes on a cloudy day. You can also see petals from Bradford Pear trees on the hood as well. Click on the thumbnails below for the full black effect:
- The ghost of Bogart in a store front window
- A mural partially cover in black paint
- A black house with a black car
- Nate the Fake Snake found at the Innovate building

I found this poster interesting and as a result I chose to share a darker (blank, red, and white) image today. A little Google research shows that Centre Stage presented Wait Until Dark as part of The Fear Project. The write up mentions late night presentations. There are other theaters mentioned in the Google search as well … Greenville’s art scene is varied and accomplished.

This peach orchard is off highway 101 and as you can see the peach trees are in the pink. Not only are they beautiful they are at an important stage in their development. Yesterday evening I stopped at this orchard and visited with the owner Ed Antley. Ed along with many other growers place South Carolina second the nation for peach production. In the US, only California produces more peaches … It will not be long before fresh peachs are sold in stands on the side of the road all around Greenville … Following are a few extra photos from Ed’s orchard:

Today, we share photos of the Bradford pear trees on Coffee Street in downtown Greenville. The photo I would like to share is one I’m having trouble capturing … On a windy day the peddles petals from the Bradford Pears fall like snow. I would love to capture that scene and I will continue to try however I suspect I’ll have to settle with the sharing of a description of the scene.
