February 14, 2008 - Construction site across from the Peace Center

The construction site across from Greenville’s Peace Center. A hotel is planned. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 2/14/2008.
The City Center building and garage have been demolished and construction will soon begin on a new hotel. Greenville’s performing arts center, the Peace Center, is in the background … More on the late City Center tomorrow.

Driving down Main St last weekend we noticed allot of re-construction…..more than usual. Three dumpsters in front of other projects. I didn’t know the history of this particular spot, just stairs going no where. We have only lived here for a year and it appeared it was a project waiting to happen. I hope things progress quickly so we can continue to enjoy are summer night strolls down town.

It is important to record the changes photographically; how far down town Greenville has come. We fell in love after so much has been completed. Appreciation is seeing the old next to the new as long as the theme is consistent, and you don’t often see picturesque photos that include a bulldozer. Good job Denton
