January 27, 2008 - Winter flowers

Blue skies above the courthouse in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was takne by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 1/25/2008.
Even with the cold weather there are Winter flowers at Falls Park. You have to look for them because they are often placed behind bushes, rocks, or walls. I assume this is to to protect the flowers.

Yes I noticed them when I was walking around there yesterday. Lovely to see them.

It’s sure nice to see some color! Winter is my least favorite season, so I’m excited that it’s almost over (at least around here)!

Hi Denton,
I’m a Garden Tech at Falls Park. I just thought I’d let you know that we aren’t really hiding those Pansies, they are all over the park! We planted them throughout the month of november. I think the reason people like you and Ann are just starting to notice them is because we just spread mulch in that part of the park and it really makes the flowers “pop”. We’ve also got some bulbs that are already starting to bloom in various parts of the park, so be on the lookout for those. Keep up the good work!
