As promised, today I am sharing a photo of the multi-purpose trail in downtown Greenville. The trail has a rubberized surface, ideal fro jogging, and an asphalt service best for bicycling and rollerblading … You can see the Carolina First building in the background … You can also see the photo was taken at dusk … For more information check out South Carolina Rails to Trails. Also, you can read this article, from SC Biz News, which also contains a photo I licensed for their use … The SC Biz article indicates this trail will become the Carolina Swamp Rabbit Tram Trail from downtown, past Furman University, to Travelers Rest.

Nice seeing these. If anyone is interested I have created a Flickr group dedicated to the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Nice! I’m planning on adopting a stretch of the trail in that location.
I’ve heard about this rails to trails project before, what a great innovation of turning tracks into usable trails for cycling, jogging, and walking.
Very exciting! Can’t wait to use it!
This part looks a lot safer but I bet the bridge is more exciting. LOL.
How could anyone pass up taking a walk, or jog, or ride on a trail called the Carolina Swamp Rabbit Tram Trail?
I think making bikepaths around the country is awesome, but we’re destroying some of are future transportation. if you think about it. this is a way of transportation that we havent tapped into since the 70’s. what happens when Trains become a reliable transportation from city to city again. we’re going to have to spend more money on REBUILding tracks. Why destroy the rails. These railways built American And it will help us grow even more.
Bella, an article I read stated that one of the purposes, of the South Carolina Rails to Trails program, is to preserve the rail beds for future use when light rail becomes available.
