December 21, 2007 - Walking in Falls Park on a rainy night

Walking in Falls Park on a rainy night in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 12/21/2007.
As part of my walk to work series I am sharing a photo from my walk home last night. It was a rainy night, a little cold, but overall very pleasant. The scene is from a walking path in Falls Park. The building in the background is River Place which is backlit by multiple colors

I love all the pictures of Falls Park. I have been there several times since I moved here on December 10. I wish it was warmer, but I guess I will have to wait a little longer. I love Greenville..is there anything you can recommend to do on a cold rainy day besides going to a movie?

Beautiful scene. How wonderful for you that you get to walk to/from work. That is a blessing.

Since I plan to live downtown when I move I sure hope I will be able to find work in walking distance :-)

Thanks for sharing this photo Denton.

What a lovely walk. Love the reflections on the path. Mind you don’t slip!

That looks like a lovely place to walk along, enjoying your misty and, I imagine, warm winter weather.

And thank you Denton for your very kind words to me today.

Kara, don’t worry it will get warm again soon. One of the nice things about Greenville’s mild Winter is that even though we are occasionally reminded that it is Winter we are just as often treated to a warm 60 or 70 degree day … As for things to do on a cold rainy day, I had a post last February which talked about what to do on a cold windy day. Of more practical help I recommend the “calendar of events” link near the top on my sidebar under the section “local Greenville Links”.

NorthBayPhoto, thank you. I was pleased with how the bushes and red berries framed the walking path.

ann, yes I would miss my walks if I were to have to work elsewhere.

Jilly, rainy nights often offer reflection photo opportunities. And one of my recent photos did involve a slip. So your advice is very good.

Annie, actually we have had fairly cold weather this week. However, tomorrow I show a photo taken within 10 minutes of today’s photo and one of the people in the photo is wearing shorts. So yes I guess Greenville does have mild Winters.

Denton and Connie, wishing you happy holidays! Denton, thank you for the recommendation about the doors around the world, I will look into this site, and thank you for the kind comments on the photograph. This is interesting, your walk to work series–I believe that is an original theme on CDPB! Its a quite pretty walk, with the rain reflections, the curve of the walkway, and the colors in the surrounding plants–this would make for a very pleasant walk to work.

This photo is wonderful in many ways: the subject, the colours, and the feeling of refreshing dampness. Very nice!
