October 27, 2007 - Welcome in five languages

There are new welcome signs, in five languages, at the parking garages in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 10/27/2007. Highlighting the international makeup of Greenville the city has placed welcome signs, in five languages, at the entrance to our parking garages. Personally, I think they add a nice touch and express how inviting Greenville is … Can you name all five languages?

Nice shot, Denton! It almost looks like a fascinating postcard until you read the desciption underneath. I am always in favor of the City’s efforts to promote and encourage our international influence. This is one way to let people know that Greenville is a welcome home or travel destination to everyone from around the World.

Neat idea. Let’s see, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian. Am I even close? Is the spider lily on every sign, or do they alternate flowers?

Ditto Justin’s comments. I like the design and colors. Very well done.

English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. (that one surprised me…I don’t know why, but I thought it might be something different in the South.)

Justin, yes the signs are very welcoming.

Lynette, your guess is correct. The flower is different on each sign. I may have to start a series of photos.

Ann, thank you.

Lavender Lady (Norma) I think the sign represents the languages heard most often here in Greenville.
