October 20, 2007 - A flower pot at Falls Park

A flower pot at Falls Park in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 10/20/2007. This photo shows a flower pot at Falls Park. The building in the background is RiverPlace and as you can see this is where the Michelin on Main store is at.

Beautiful weather and a very attractive urban setting! I am definitely excited about all that is happening at this new center of activity in downtown. A new “Boathouse” lowcountry restaurant will be opening soon just to the right of this shot, next to the Reedy River falls.

Does the city have a crew who comes around and waters the flowers in the pots? I would think they would have to as there is a lot of heat in that kind of location - surrounded by stone or brick or both. Nice shot.

Let’s hope so, Abe! We’re 16 inches below normal for precipitation for 2007.

This is a fantastic shot with the flowers in the foreground. I just love the architecture of that River Place building. Heck, I love the whole downtown area! And soon I’ll be just a few minutes away. Woohoo!!!

my spam word “downtown” and thinking about how i feel when in downtown Greenville, i remember the Petula Clark song “Downtown”.
Would love to hear/read more about this new Boathouse restaurant Justin. Also, I posted a comment and request on your blog site.

Oh how I love downtown Greenville :-) one of these days…

Ann, the Boathouse restaurant is currently under construction in the old Falls Place building, which you can see on the right edge of Denton’s photo for today. It was originally a cotton warehouse. For more information about the restaurant called, ‘The Boathouse on The Falls,’ visit their website: http://www.boathouserestaurants.com/tf_home.html .

Thank you for visiting my blog and I will respond to your comment this evening.

Justin, thanks. The Boathouse will add to an expanding list of restaurant options in the Historic West End.

Slinger, thank you. I took the photo blind holding my camera at flower pot level. I would like to captured all of the RiverPlace building then the photo would have been better. However, I was not willing to lay on the ground to insure I had the photo composed as it needed to be.

Abe, yes the city has a maintenance crew. In fact there appears to be a dedicated crew to Falls Park maintenance.

Galley, so dry. The rain on Friday night helped but we certainly need more.

Marsha, I’m glad you like it.

Annulla, I took this photo several times trying to capture these flowers.

Ann, one of these days I’m sure you will announce your move to Greenville.

Justin, thanks for the information and the link. You are a wealth of information.

Is this downtown? Very pretty for a downtown! I love the colors of the flowers!

Thanks Justin and Denton. I look forward to that day…when I can announce my move to Greenville.
Only God knows when that will be, but I continue to SEE myself there and prepare in my own way for that day.

Helen, yes this is a photo of Greenville’s downtown. We are very fortunate to have had a major re-vitalization effort over the last 30 years in downtown Greenville. The result is a booming downtown which is a destination point for locals and tourist alike.

Ann, you are welcome.
