October 17, 2007 - The artist taking a break at Art Crossing Studios

The artist taking a break at Art Crossing in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 10/17/2007. Last night I took some relatives for a walking tour of downtown. We walked past the Art Crossing Studios and took this photo of the artist enjoying a well deserved break from the crowds last weekend. They were enjoying a meal together. Click here to see a close-up. Our Uncle Joe and Aunt Clare are in the background of the close-up.

There is a highly attractive urban tranquility about this setting, which evokes the sense that one could easily be right at home there around the table and not have a worry in the world. Imagine the many kinds of discussion they must surely enjoy together when all has quieted down along the river, a place usually bustling with vibrant and creative energy throughout the daytime and evening hours. This is among the highest quality of living available during our present era.

Thanks, Denton, for another wonderful window on Greenville’s downtown lifestyle. I would love to have been a fly on the wall, listening to what surely was a highly creative conversation.

i like very much that you are introducing local people time to time. The other thing I realized that baseball cap is something like a national symbol of US:)

I agree with Justin’s point about the “urban tranquility” around the table… It looks like the time-field around the table is set apart from the rest of the scene.
Great photograph.

Justin, you gave a very good description of the scene.

Helen, thank you.

Lynette, I sure they were having a good time. I could tell by the smiles on their faces.

Zsolt, thank you. And yes baseball caps are significant in the US. Especially now during the World Series.

Maria, thank you … I like your thought, a photo of artist as artistic.

Rich, I found the act of dinning in front of your business to be very appealing.
