I went for a walk in the rain last night and took this photo to share the experence with you. I had an umbrella however you can see from the photo there was some moisture on my camera lens. My favorite, previously posted photo, which shows rain was this one.

I like both of your rainy scenes, Denton. If you get a minute, check out the similarities between your photos and the ones I posted for Thursday, 10/4, at my blog. What’s that saying about like minds?

This is a wonderfully wet, intriguingly surreal shot.

Nice relections with the lights.

I normally don’t care to walk in the rain. However, i have found in my life that there are some places that even in the rain I love being out walking around…one of those places is Paris, and a couple months ago when in Greenville walking in the rain I felt the same way. I didn’t care that it was raining…I was in Paris, and I was in Greenville :-)

I’m thinking you might have burst into song and dance, like Gene Kelly.

This lovely scene is a rare one this year because the city has been very dry. You captured an ambient warmth in the shot despite everything being wet and cool. I just feel like dashing straight across the street and entering the cozy atmosphere of Sticky Fingers before heading upstairs to the refreshment of the overhead condo. Downtown Greenville’s appeal cannot be washed away by rain. It only enhances the charm and beauty.

Like Ann, I am not one who likes walking in the rain. . .Heck! I don’t even like rain (Although given the drought we’ve experienced this year, it isn’t bothering me too much when it does rain here now!). But!! I do like this photo, Denton. How beautiful!

Lynette, great photos of the pouring rain in Portland.
Rich, yes the moisture on my lens added a surreal look to the photo.
Barb, thank you. For even better rainy night reflections check out my photo from October 19th of 2006.
Ann, I sure hope Greenville lives up to your expectations. Comparing Greenville to Paris may be a bit much.
Annie, both song and dance I do rather poorly.
Justin, thank you. We have been dry and I jumped at the chance to walk in the rain.
Chris, thank you. Having grown up in Texas, where the average rain fall was 12 inches yearly, I was taught to never complain about the rain … Love your photos from Nashville.

Denton, in case you check this thread again I am responding to your comment. I don’t really “compare the 2 cities” ONLY my response and feeling about “walking around in the rain”.
Where I currently live and even when i lived in Ireland I didn’t feel “joyful” walking around in the rain. However, I remember when my aunt and uncle took me and my then husband to Paris…the first day there we took a walk and as we walked along the Champs Elysee it was raining…but my heart, my spirit was joyful and said to myself…”I am in Paris and I don’t care that it is raining…I am enjoying walking in the rain”
That is how I feel when in downtown Greenville and it is raining.
Justin said,
Ann, that is great and I completely concur with your feeling while it rains in Greenville.
ann said,
Justin, thanks for response and i suspect a lot of the others that i see walking around downtown in the rain feel the same, but maybe don’t realize that feeling.

Ann, I’m pleased you feel good when in Greenville. I have similar feel good feelings when strolling on Main Street … For me, Paris would invoke more of an excited feeling.
Lavender Lady (Norma) thank you.
