Before I posted today’s photo I asked myself if this was a proper transition after yesterday’s photo of a cemetery. I’m fairly sure it is not appropriate however I chose to share today’s photo anyway. I like the colors of the sign and the painted wall … Check others, around the City Daily Photo Blog community, to see how they transitioned from yesterday’s theme day.
October 2, 2007 - A Coca-Cola sign in downtown Greenville

Whatever you think about Coca-Cola, the old classic bottle is an iconic image, and this is a great photo in my opinion. It shouldn’t work but it just ‘does’. And if you were thirsty, then…

Iconic. Andy Warhol-ish too. Good post. Yes it does work.

Great photo. My favorite is the “Frosty, man!” dog on River St.

You present an eye-catching monument to something that lives on in our everyday and in our imaginations..

As a Coca-Cola employee in Dunedin, FL, hoping to become a Greenville resident in the not too distant future, it is great to see Coca-Cola represented in the culture of Greenville.
I fell in love with Greenville 14 years ago, and after moving around the country, I am convinced that it is the place for me. I look forward to your newest picture every day Denton, and I have thoroughly enjoyed going through your archives.
Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Hi! I follow this blog daily and live pretty close to down town.
I would be interested to know where this picture was taken. We walked to the new museum this weekend and on the walk back I noticed a very faded old Buick sign on the side of the CATS building and I remembered how there used to be a lot of signs like that painted on the buildings, and one building had a large mural of fruit on the side. I miss the old signs painted onto the brick and like them a lot better than your standard tattered paper billboard. I would love to see more examples of things like this.
Thanks for your pictures.

Cool photo! No transition on my site! I assume all stand alone. Easier that way! :)

After a somber day yesterday, it’s nice to see some color!

Tigerlily, this sign is at the intersection of Main and Washington … Where is the CATS building? It sounds like a photo opportunity … Thanks for following our blog and your words of encouragement.

Rich, yes very iconic indeed.
Jilly, thanks. It lifted my sprits.
Annie, very much in our lives.
Wayne, best of luck in your planned move to Greenville. Thanks for your complements.
Lessie, thanks.
Zsolt, it might be an interesting theme.
Chris, you are right. So color always lifts my sprits.

Today’s anti-spam word was perfect for the colors in this excellent photo. It was quite a switch from yesterday’s theme but a most welcome one. Love this photo!

I am looking toward planning our wedding pictures in Greenville and I want to do some interesting/unusual shots. Do you know of some other signs or advertisements with the painted bricks style that might make a neat backdrop?
Thanks! this is a great blog!

There is the urban legend about Coke’s old slogan “We bring good things to life” translating to something like “we revive dead ancestors” in Chinese.
Tigerlily said,
By “The CATS Building” I mean Cafe and Then Some, which I have always just heard refered to as CATS. If you pass their front door coming from main street and continue on around the building, the old Buick sign is near the roof.

Interesting, Coke and Pepsi are one of the most globalized products with Walmert actually being number 1……statistics from “the World of Globilzation”.
I , personally , am a Coke gal….and can really tell when someone trys to pass off Pepsi as Coke…..really don’t like that!
