September 29, 2007 - The Carolina First sign and ornamental grass

The Carolina First sign, in Greenville SC, with sun lit ornamental grass in the foreground. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/29/2007. I took this photo while on a stroll downtown in Greenville. There is nothing special about the sign. However, I liked how the ornamental grass was backlit by the sun. Click here to see a similar photo of ornamental grass which I posted previously. This landscaping approach is very popular in Greenville at present.

Unique was your anti-spam word. Probably the ornamental is not unique, but I don’t remember seeing something similar around here…

This kind of decorative plant is becoming more popular around here, too.

Maybe the grass will grow and cover the sign one day…

Rich, you’re hilarious!! The picture looks a lot better when you look at the larger version - you can see the sunlight more clearly.

Trotter, one of our readers commented that it was an “ornamental grass called Pennisetum“.

Kate, they must thrive well to be so popular.

Rich, funny. I doubt Carolina First would let that happen.

Kristi, thanks for pointing out the larger version. I also like the photo, in the link I provided, because it shows the sunlight.

Styles are taken up around the globe, this looks good, various ‘native’ grasses have been adopted here in landscaping and I posted this same type, I had thought it was a local grass but am wrong..
