September 21, 2007 - Interesting architecture at Poinsett Corners

Interesting architecture on the Poinsett Corners Condo complex in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/20/2007. This view of the Poinsett Corners Condo complex shows how interesting the architecture is. If you look closely you can see our balcony on the top right of the building.

I really like the style of this architecture. Interesting view…

What an odd building. Never seen anything quite like that… Beats all of the awful generic 1960s blocks they built here in the UK. And the blue sky looks good to me.

to me it is like a so called cubist (or kubist?) style painting!

The angles are nice but what I like are the several different types of textures and colors used to bring out those varying angles/heights!

I agree with Zsolt72, does resemble one of those style paintings.

Ann, actually the architecture is not as dramatic when seen as a whole. This one specific perspective adds to the effect.

Rich, we like the building a lot. It is our condo complex where we live. The condos are built around one of the city parking garages. There are three courtyards and an effort was made to have many varieties of floor plans. The effect is many different patterns in the outside façade.

Zsolt, yes I would agree it is sort of cubist.

Cari, I agree the overall effect is very nice. It makes us feel we live somewhere special.

I agree Denton. I did not see this perspective when i walked past there the last time i was in town. It is interesting to see things from other perspectives. thanks

I was wondering if this city garage is where the residents park their cars or does the condo have its own garage?

Bryan, the residences park at the River Street garage which is the garage the condo’s a re built around. The price of one parking space is included in the condo regime fee. It is possible to purchase a monthly permit from the city for a second car. Also, the option exists to purchase a reserved spot.

Each resident has an electronic pass which opens the gates automatically. It works fairly well once you learn not to approach the gate too closely after another car.
