September 9, 2007 - Thank you Hospice

Thank you Hospice. This hibiscus set on the window sill and provided a new bloom daily during the last weeks of Mother's life. Photo taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/9/2007. Because of hospice, Mother was able to spend the last weeks of her life resting comfortably in her home … Thank you to those who make hospice possible … This hibiscus plant set on the window sill at the end of her bed. Each day the hibiscus provided a new bloom to be enjoyed.

It is wonderful that she was able to feel the comfort of her own home, to have the care of hospice, see this beautiful flower, and know the love of her family in her last days on this earth.

Hibiscus is a nice plant and enjoyed by many, including us. This is a nice photo of one and the color is striking.

Another beautiful photo! The month before my aunt (and godmother) passed away in 1994, she sent me a hibiscus when I had surgery. I still have that plant. It travelled cross-country with me in 1995, and I will not let it die. Like the crepe myrtle I mentioned yesterday, it helps me remember my beloved aunt.

hospice is a very human and gentle service making possible for all of us to spend our last hours in our community. I am sure your mother could avoid all the humiliating moments in a hospital with the help of hospice.

I saw this photo but then went back and commented on the previous one as I included a comment about what a wonderful service hospice provides to families of the dying.

In this one, I will comment on your beautiful hibiscus photo. I have taken similar photos of a variety of colors of this plant while in Mexico. Love the vibrant color of this one, and it will represents the vibrant life your Mom must have led.

I love hibiscus flowers. I’m really happy to be living in the south where they will grow and bloom more than once a year!
