September 1, 2007 - Theme day - Street lights

Street lights in downtown Greenville, SC. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com on 9/1/2007. Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo blog community. The theme is street lights and signs. A list of participating cities can be found at the end of this post … The photo I am sharing is of a piece of art next to an ornamental street light. Greenville has done a good job of moving to ornamental lighting in many cases. In addition, I have included four thumbnails of other street lights in downtown Greenville. Click on the thumbnails to see larger images.

I especially like the one with the wooden doors…they are all excellent, but that one caught my eye.

I love the green colors on this photo. In some aspects Greenville looks like an European city. Once I told you about one photo it looked like being in Prague..and now looking at your photo it reminds me of some streets in Belgium.

I echo lavenderlady…I really like the one with the wooden doors and if you look through the door windows, the view echos my antispam word “artistic”.

It almost looks like HDR. Beautiful capture.

By the way, thanks for the heads-up on the theme day. I completely forgot it was September first!

(It’s all been remedied now.)

What a nice presentation, Denton! The green glow acecntuate the “genteel” feel of the South…

I think what makes this picture is the contrasting-complementary colors? of red and green. very incredible photo.

The street lights are indeed artwork. So glad that Greenville is preserving it.

Great night time photo and theme day too!

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. There is a large elevation change within the cities boundaries so the emergency truck ramp is necessary (though thankfully almost never used). We even have a small alpine ski hill in town too!
