There is a popular commercial which claims that “life comes at your fast”. In this case it was a photo opportunity which came at me fast and unexpectedly. This young man was running on a poweriser and I was lucky to have had my camera ready. This was the first time I have seen a poweriser in Greenville however previously I have seen one at the Cologne (Germany) daily photo blog published by Beetle.

i think you have to be in your teens or twentys to use this…I can not imagine getting on one of these at my age.
I must have been in PNG too long – am feeling very out-ot-it today. McDonald’s (don’t have it here) at Menton DP disc golf (never heard of it), now poweriser (never heard of it) ???
Gosh I need a life!!!!
Those things are real?
How does he stop? When he does stop – it looks like he wouldn’t be standing straight!
looks awfully difficult ;o]
Great action shots! The runner/poweriser seems quite happy. It looks like fun but I would be a little scared about falling (or stopping!!).
That really looks like fun!
Lavender Lady (Norma), yes I agree, one would need to be young and full on invincibility to strap a pair of poweriser on.
Jules, I had the same response when I saw a photo of a poweriser at the Cologne (Germany) daily photo blog.
Galley, yes they are real. The documentation says you can run 20 miles per hour, with nine foot strides, and six foot jumps.
Leonda, I agree. The two hardest things to do in any effort is to start and stop … Fortunately a Google search turns up several pages dedicated to the subject of how to stop.
Inspired, this guy made it look easy. But not so easy I will rush out and strap on a pair.
NorthBayPhoto, thanks. Fun and scary often go together.
Lessie, I’ll keep and eye out to see you as you run by. Actually I think the proper term if running in a poweriser is Powerbocking.
Sweetie,
Where can I buy one?
Connie
I think I’d feel a bit like a kangaroo on these.
Thanks Denton,I was also very happy when I saw this ONLY made for young generation thing and I had my camera with me,actually I’ve seen it often but as my age,I only see it and said “What is that!?” ;o)
Strange thing; I would like to try it and hop along the street. Though I’m from Cologne, too, like ‘Beetle’, I have never seen a guy with such equipment.
So Denton, are you going to surprise Connie and buy her a pair? smile
Connie, I really think that is bad idea. But then you might not need self defense classes because you can out run any attackers. Also you might be able to kick someone taller than a midget … Maybe we should get you a Poweriser justified on the basis of safety.
Annie, the runner really did not jump. More like really long strides.
Beetle, I think the young have less brittle bones. They might be a pre-requisite for this extreme sport.
April, keep your eye out. Based on Beetle’s previous comment they may be everywhere and you will need to watch to insure you are not ran over.
Ann, no I don’t think so.
Ha! I think I’d break both legs if I tried to ride that! :)
I am now 40, but I think I would still try it. Just a kid at heart.
Dan, be sure and have some one take a photo of your effort. We all want to see.
I have seen it on the Cologne DP first…and now in Greenville…but I have never seen it in Budapest (yet)
So true! – Life do come fast at you.
