August 10, 2007 - A couple posing next the Nexus of Light sculpture

A couple posing next the Nexus of Light sculpture in downtown Greenville, SC. Photo by Denton Harryman posted at GreenvilleDailyPhoto.com On Wednesday evening I was taking photos of this sculpture in the history west end. The couple in the photo asked if I was a professional then asked if I would take their photo … I’m going to have to work on my response … I have sold images for commercial use so I need to work on saying yes I’m a commercial photographer … meet Ryan and Tabitha, a very nice couple … the sculpture is called Nexus of Light and was created by Dennis Heimbach … I also found that the sculpture spins if you want to move it to catch the light.

PS: A question for the other daily photo bloggers. How would you answer the question “are you a professional”?

The photo is interesting and their question was too. I suppose you must look professional to them and they were verifying it before asking.

What a fun photo! I didn’t know the sculpture spins! I like that that couple’s shirts each show a different local team and sport. Seneca football and Anderson wrestling. Very neat.

I’d say that I plan to stay an amateur photographer as long as I possibly can.

What a clever sculpture - clever was my anti-spam word today.

I would be quite chuffed if anyone thought I looked professional. Around here everyone asks “Ples bilong yu we?” Literally this means “Place belong you where?” which means they think I must be a toursit and want to know where I am from?

That’s always been one of my favorite sculptures in Greenville. Who knew you could spin it?
